Bryson DeChambeau enters Atlanta as the No. 1 seed, but as part of the resetting process for the East Lake finale, his 5,789 points gets reduced to just 2,000, adding many more players into the championship mix who otherwise would not be.

In fact, the points are set up so that the each player in the top-five control their own destiny. A victory at the TOUR Championship by anyone in this group means an automatic FedExCup Championship, and a $10 million bonus – the richest payout in professional sports.

Those five, in order, are DeChambeau, Justin Rose, Tony Finau, Dustin Johnson, and Justin Thomas.

That does not mean that only those five players are able to win the big prize. In fact, each of the 30 players in the field, from No. 1 to No. 30, have a path to PGA Tour gold. It’s just that those outside the top five need some help, and the further down in the standings one sits, the more help required.
