This is absolutely heart-breaking for young Haotong Li, who is one of the nicest lads on the European Tour – always smiling, always accommodating to fans and media.

Needing a tap-in par putt to extend the overtime to a second sudden-death hole, Li just flat out pushes his putt, stunning the gallery, the announcers, and even Justin Rose, who is now world No. 1.

Even in defeat, the young Chinese star was all class, though.

“A tough day for me, honestly,” said Li. “The playoff, I saw that ball definitely go in. I think I played well the whole week but didn’t hole a few putts on the last and that was it.

“It’s a pretty good round, especially against Rosey who’s such a nice guy. Hopefully next time I can play better.”

Just very sad.
