Phil Mickelson made bogeys on the 12th and 14th holes to fall from -4 to -2 and below the -3 cut line. With two holes to go, Phil badly needed a birdie on the par-5 17th to make the weekend in Detroit.
And that’s exactly what he did.
After a 284-yard drive into the right intermediate stuff, Phil ripped a 287-yard stinger to within 45 yards of the hole. He then nailed a wedge to 23 inches for a tap-in birdie 4.
And those shoes were white hawt!
