On Sunday at TPC Louisiana, the unheralded duo of Davis Riley and Nick Hardy claimed victory at the 2023 Zurich Classic of New Orleans with a tournament-record score of 30-under par.
It was the maiden PGA Tour victory for the two little-known players who teamed for rounds of 64, 66, 63 and 65. They become the first team to both record their first tour wins at the event (2017 champion Cameron Smith, who teamed with Jonas Blixt, is the only other player to record his first win in the team event).
Canadians Nick Taylor and Adam Hadwin finish runner-up after equaling the Zurich Classic Foursomes scoring record with a 9-under 63. After holding at least a share of the lead for the first three rounds, Wyndham Clark and Beau Hossler teamed for a disappointing round of 71 on Sunday to finish third.
Patrick Cantlay and Xander Schauffele, the pre-tournament betting favorites, finished T4 on 26 under.
Riley moves to No.33 in the FedEx Cup race, while Hardy jumps to No.39.
