On Sunday at Austin Country Club, Billy Horschel ousted Victor Perez, 3 & 2, in the semis, and then Scottie Scheffler, 2 Up, in the finals, to claim victory at the 2021 WGC-Dell Match Play Championship.
The win moved Horschel to 7th-place in the FedExCup race, all but assuring himself a spot in the 30-man field at East Lake in September. His world ranking moved from 34th to 17th, his first time inside the top 20 since he dropped out after the 2015 WGC-Bridgestone Invitational. (His highest career ranking is 12th late in 2014.)
The former Florida Gator, and FexExCup champion, accomplished all this with a mixed bag of PING and Titleist, including a Pro V1 golf ball.
