OAKMONT, Pa. — Former U.S. Open champion Wyndham Clark is under fire after reportedly damaging lockers at Oakmont Country Club following his missed cut at the 2025 U.S. Open on Friday. Clark, who shot back-to-back 74s to finish at 8-over par, missed the cut by a single stroke after bogeying his final hole, sparking frustration that allegedly spilled into the historic clubhouse.

According to multiple reports, including a post by No Laying Up’s Tron Carter on X, Clark “really got after it” in the locker room, with photos circulating online showing two caved-in locker doors. The incident, which has not been officially confirmed by Clark or the USGA, drew sharp criticism from fans and Oakmont members.

Social media posts called for fines or suspension, labeling the behavior “unacceptable” at a venue revered for its storied past.

This marks Clark’s second outburst in recent majors. At the 2025 PGA Championship, he apologized for damaging a T-Mobile sign after a poor drive. Clark has yet to comment on the Oakmont allegations, and his representatives did not respond to inquiries.

The USGA is reportedly addressing player conduct privately, with a source indicating Clark acknowledged the incident and an apology may be forthcoming.

The controversy overshadowed a brutal U.S. Open where Oakmont’s punishing conditions tested the field’s patience. Rory McIlroy also made headlines for smashing a tee marker, while Shane Lowry was caught on a hot mic spouting expletives about the famed course.
