Hideki Matsuyama overcame a five-shot deficit with a final-round 63 to force a playoff with Russell Henley on 23 under.
The 29-year-old Japanese star then beat Henley on the first extra hole, hitting a 3-wood into the sun to three feet for an eagle-3 and win No. 2 of the 2022 season.
Matsuyama earned $1,350,000 and 500 FedEx Cup points, which moves him to No. 1 on the tour’s money list and points standings.
He also picked up 42 Official World Golf Rankings points and will jump up to No. 10 (from 19th).
Runner-up Henley took home a check for $817,500 along with 300 FedEx Cup points.
