Following up on our Power Picks for the Quicken Loans National, here are this week’s Sleeper Picks for the PGA Tour stop at Congressional Country Club’s Blue Course.
1. Rickie Fowler
With three missed cuts in a row, Fowler is having one weird season. Every time he’s made cut this year, he’s finished in the Top-25. With six Top-10s this season he’s hoping to make a comeback.
OWGR: 6 | FedEx Cup: 26
2. Jon Rahm
The No. 1 Amateur Golfer in the world is turning pro this week. He finished T-23 at the US Open and was the lone amateur to make the cut. He’ll be hoping to earn his full playing rights for next year on Sponsor Exemptions.
OWGR: N/A/ | FedEx Cup: N/A/
3. Byeong Hun-An
The former US Amateur Champion finished in T-23 at Oakmont. He lost in the playoff at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans finished T-11 at the Memorial. His distance of the tee should play to his advantage at Congressional.
OWGR: 27 | FedEx Cup: N/R
4. Justin Thomas
Although he finished T-32 at Oakmont, he led the field in birdies with 17 of them. Playing with close friends, Rickie and Smylie, this week will be an added bonus for him. He finished T-4 last year this event, albeit at a different course.
OWGR: 33 | FedEx Cup: 11
5. Bryson DeChambeau
The reigning US Amateur Champion is turning out to be a Major sort of player. He finished T-21 at the Masters and T-15 at Oakmont. He was a factor the week after the Masters at Harbour Town where he finished T-4. If the pattern remains, he should do well this week as well.
OWGR: 148 | FedEx Cup: N/R
