Andy Sullivan has taken the lead at the Alfred Dunhill Championship with an impressive performance. The Englishman shot a bogey-free 8-under 64 in the first round, securing a one-stroke lead over the field. This performance marks a continuation of his good form in South Africa, where he has previously enjoyed success, including securing his first two DP World Tour victories in 2015 (South African Open and Joburg Open).
Sullivan’s round featured eight birdies, showcasing his ability to handle the challenging conditions at Leopard Creek Country Club, which borders the Kruger National Park. His 64 places him one shot clear of Alex Fitzpatrick from England, Marcus Kinhult from Sweden, and South Africa’s Casey Jarvis, who are all tied for second place on 7-under 65.
“Obviously coming back to South Africa is a feel-good factor, winning my first event down here,” said Sullivan.
“I always get a good following and support, always feel comfortable and am always enjoying myself so generally play decent golf.”
