The PGA Tour announced today that Bank of Utah has been named the new title sponsor of its Utah event, rebranding the tournament as the Bank of Utah Championship.
Following its successful debut in 2024 as the Black Desert Championship, the first PGA Tour event in Utah in over 60 years, the championship will return to Black Desert Resort in Southern Utah’s Greater Zion region from October 23-26, 2025, as part of the FedExCup Fall series.
The three-year sponsorship agreement, extending through 2027, marks a significant partnership for the Ogden-based bank, which aims to leverage the event to expand its visibility in Southern Utah, where it currently has two locations in St. George: a full-service branch and a mortgage location.
“Utah is an iconic place of striking beauty and innovative spirit—and Black Desert Resort captures both,” said Branden P. Hansen, President of Bank of Utah. “This partnership celebrates what makes Utah exceptional and serves as a powerful platform to drive long-term impact across the state.”
The 2024 Black Desert Championship, won by PGA Tour rookie Matt McCarty in his third career start, drew rave reviews for its stunning Tom Weiskopf-designed course, set against red rock mountains and black lava fields.
McCarty, who secured a three-shot victory, is set to defend his title in 2025.
“After celebrating a successful return to Utah last year, the PGA Tour is pleased to introduce Bank of Utah as title sponsor of our event at Black Desert Resort,” said Tyler Dennis, PGA Tour Chief Competitions Officer. “The Bank of Utah Championship is staged in one of the most unique settings on the PGA Tour schedule.”
The event, which also hosts an LPGA Tour tournament, making Black Desert Resort the only U.S. venue to annually feature both tours, is expected to boost Southern Utah’s economy by $45-$50 million. Coverage will air on GOLF Channel, PGA TOUR LIVE on ESPN+, and SiriusXM.
