Bernd Wiesberger shot a final-round 66 at Himmerland Golf & Spa Report to claim a one-shot victory over Scotland’s Robert MacIntyre at the Made in Denmark.

The Austrian entered Sunday’s finale in Farso with a one-shot lead over the Scot, but it was all even (-12) halfway home after Wiesberger turned in 33 to MacIntyre’s 32.

It remained deadlocked as the lead duo stood on the par-3 16th tee, but a brilliant tee shot by Wiesberger led to a birdie, which then MacIntyre followed with a bogey on No. 17, giving the Austrian a two-shot lead heading into the final hole. A meaningless bogey-5 on No. 18 gave Wiesberger a one-shot victory – his fifth European Tour title.

“I didn’t expect it all, I had a rough year last year. Winning is never easy,” said Wiesberger. “It’s up there. Thinking about what was going on in the last year.

“I had so many great people helping me and getting me back to where I am right now. I’ve had so much support, it’s been amazing, and I’m proud to pay it back that way. I’m so thankful to so many people who have been there for me in the last year.

“It’s been such a great week here, I’ve enjoyed myself so much. I’ve loved the way I’ve started playing.”

MacIntyre finished with six birdies, highlighted by four in a five-hole stretch on Nos. 4-8 en route to a 66, good for solo second-place at 13-under par.

“I’m proud of the way I finished,” said MacIntyre. “I thought I gave it everything I had It was a poor shot on 17 that really cost me. It’s the worst swing I’ve probably put on a shot in a long, long time but I’m young, I live and I learn.

“I had to get it down 18 with a sniff and I did have a chance but Bernd played brilliantly all day.

“It’s just golf, we’ve just got to keep knocking on that door and one will open.”

Two further back was Frenchman Romain Langasque, who also produced a 66 to secure the bronze at 11-under par.

Spaniard Pablo Larrazabal (68),Irishman Paul Dunne (67), German Max Schmitt (69), along with Englishmen Oliver Wilson (68) and Chris Paisley (65) finished T4 on 9-under par
