A look at some of the quotes from the top players after the third round of the Waste Management Phoenix Open at TPC Scottsdale, where Rickie Fowler leads by one.

RICKIE FOWLER

This is a course where seven of the last eight winners have come from behind. What’s the challenge of trying to protect the lead out here?

FOWLER: It’s anyone’s tournament tomorrow. Yeah, I have a one-shot lead, but this tournament is not going to be given to anyone. You saw how much movement there was early, guys can go out and shoot four, 5-under on the front nine pretty quickly.

Really the tournament is the last six, seven holes. I would say the last six holes, once you get to 13, then it’s a sprint to the finish in a way with how much scoring opportunities there are.

So really tomorrow stay patient get off to a little bit better start, have some fun with it.

BRYSON DECHAMBEAU

What do you think of those guys who sit in the front of the grand stand right to the left of the tee box?

DECHAMBEAU: What do I think of them? Oh, I think they’re great. Obviously be courteous to the players that are playing, but at the same time have fun.

This is what it’s about.

It’s about having fun out here. I think it’s great for the game, I think it’s great for the tournament as well. But at the same point in time you just got to be courteous when they’re hitting shots.

Like on 18 tee box there are a lot of people walking in the background and that shadow perfectly lines up with the tee box and if somebody walks across — I mean Berger, again, had to back off, because of somebody walking across. So that’s just unacceptable, they just got to be a little more cautious.

But other than that it’s fantastic, I love the atmosphere and looking forward to tomorrow.

JON RAHM

How about the playing group, you Phil, Xander just killing it, all three of you guys playing great golf down the stretch. Gallery in your favor. All in contention going into Sunday.

RAHM: It was absolutely amazing. I think it was about time for me to have a good finish with those two guys.

It’s always great to play with Phil and Xander because they’re great people, but it’s even better when they get to play as good as you’re playing and that we all feed off each other. It felt like every time one got ahead, the other ones would make a birdie and catch up.

If we had kept playing a couple more holes, they probably would have caught up and all of us would have finished at 13- or 14- or whatever it was. So I don’t know if I will or not, but it will be amazing to play with them two again tomorrow. If not, I hope to have the same positive energy we had today.

PHIL MICKELSON

It’s rare that you have a threesome for the first two rounds all three play again on Saturday. Can you talk about just the play overall for the group and how you guys have been able it feed off each other.

MICKELSON: I think we have all played well, we have all putted well, we have all hit some good shots and we have all been supportive of each other.

We’re having a lot of fun and I think you play your best golf when you’re having fun. I love the way Jon interacts with the gallery here, I love how well he represents Arizona State. And Xander being a fellow San Diegan and having won the TOUR Championship, is a fun guy to be around and play with.

So it was really a good first few days. Obviously if Jon wanted to continue this and play well, he didn’t need to make that last putt on 18, but he didn’t care about that, he was trying to, I guess he’s trying to win.
