Dodt, Cullen, and Felton posted their low rounds of 67 in the morning wave, while New Zealander Campbell caught the Aussie trio following his afternoon round at Natadola Bay Golf Club.

Dodt, a two-time European Tour winner, enjoyed his most consistent season as a tour pro in 2017 – finishing 44th in the Race to Dubai, but he’s yet to post as much as a top 10 in 2018.

The 32-year old Aussie hopes to turn it around this weekend.

“That was not easy,” said Dodt, describing the conditions at the oceanside course. “It was very tough, very windy, you had to control your ball, course management was a big factor. It was a really, really solid round.

“The last six months haven’t been that great. I haven’t been able to put four rounds together, I’ve put rounds together here and there, so today was a step in the right direction. That’s one with three to go.”

Australians Maverick Antcliff, Matthew Griffin and Stephen Leaney were then 3-under par at T5.
