Jon Rahm‘s illness appears to be more than a 24 hour bug. The Legions XIII captain withdrew from this weekend’s LIV Golf Dallas Team Championship due to “severe flu-like symptoms.”

Legion XIII announced the news Saturday morning ahead of the squad’s semi-final matchup against Phil Mickelson’s HyFlyers.

“Jon has been experiencing severe flu symptoms the last few days,” according to the Legion XIII statement released on the team’s social channels.

“In the best interest of his team and under the advise of his medical team, he will not be playing this weekend. He will continue to provide full support to his team.”

John Catlin, a reserve player, replaces Rahm in the Legion lineup and will take on the HyFlyers’ Cameron Tringale in singles at Maridoe Golf Club.

In the other singles match, Tyrrell Hatton will face off against Andy Ogletree, while Caleb Surratt and Kieran Vincent will take on Mickelson and Brendan Steele in foursomes.

The loss of Rahm, in his first season on LIV Golf, is a big one. Last week, the 29-year-old Spaniard won LIV Golf Chicago, his second tournament of the season, while clinching the season-long Individual Championship.

Legion XIII is the No. 2 seed in Dallas and won a league-high four tournaments during their inaugural season.

The four winning teams in the semifinals will play for the 2024 Team Championship on Sunday, with all scores counting in stroke-play competition.
