Whatever had been bothering Dustin Johnson the past few months seems to have been resolved. The world No. 1 opened with a bogey-free 65 to shared the early lead with Doc Redman at the Palmetto Championship.
Johnson, who began his Thursday round on Congaree’s back nine, got off to a somewhat sluggish start, carding five straight pars. But a birdie on the par-4 15th kicked off a three-birdie run over his next five holes. The 36-year old home favorite added birdies on Nos. 3, 6 and 9 to set the early pace on 6 under.
More to come….
