With a final-round 72 at Royal Portrush, Shane Lowry claimed his maiden major at the 148th Open Championship.
The 32-year old Irishman signed for a card comprised of five bogeys, four birdies, and nine pars to finish on 15-under par, six clear of runner-up Tommy Fleetwood of England.
Along with the Claret Jug, Lowry earned $1,935,000 and 600 FedExCup points, while also picking up 100 OWGR points. He will move from 33rd to 17th in the world rankings.
Runner-up Fleetwood earned $1,120,000 along with 330 FedExCup and 60 OWGR points. He will move up to No. 13 (from 20th) in the Official World Golf Rankings.
