On Sunday at Royal Portrush, Ireland’s own Shane Lowry overcame the elements and produced a workmanlike round of 72 en route to a victory at the 148th Open Championship.
Lowry completed his four days in Northern Ireland on 15-under par, six full strokes clear of Englishman Tommy Fleetwood, who posted a Sunday 74 to finish 9-under par.
The 32-year old son of county Offaly won his maiden major title playing primarily a full bag of Srixon/Cleveland, other than a 3-wood and putter.
