J.B. Holmes overcame a four-shot deficit with a final-round 1-under 70… Wait, what!? Yes, you heard that right.
Aided by a Justin Thomas collapse, Holmes took home the title at the Genesis Open with a 1 under final 18 as the 25-year old Thomas surprisingly fell apart over his final 17 holes.
Holmes signed for a card comprised of 13 pars, three birdies and two bogeys to reach 14-under par, one clear of Thomas, who struggled to a 4-over par 75 and a four-day score of 13-under par.
It was the 36-year old American’s fifth career career PGA Tour title, and first since the 2015 Shell Houston Open. He earned $1,332,000 and 500 FedExCup points, while also picking up 64 OWGR points to move into the top-50 at No. 42.
Runner-up Thomas earned $799,200 and 300 FedExCup, along with 38.4 OWGR points. JT will remain at No. 4 in the Official World Golf Rankings.
