Garrick Higgo fired a third-day 7-under 63, and will take a two shot lead into the final round of the 2021 Gran Canaria Lopesan Open.
The 21-year old South African entered the day three shots off the pace of overnight leader Thorbjorn Olesen but following a career-low score, Higgo was at 18 under, and two clear of the field.
“It was good,” said Higgo, who is playing in just his 24th event this week. “An unbelievable start, obviously.
“I wasn’t playing that well, I think it’s definitely the course where you can hit it off line. I putted well, my chipping has been great, so I definitely scored very well. A couple of times we were in some funny spots and I couldn’t believe where I hit them.
“I’m definitely going to try and be aggressive if I can but I’m just going to enjoy it. It’s a good spot to be in.”
Frenchman Matthieu Pavon (64), Austrian Matthias Schwab (66) and Scot Connor Syme (62) were T2 on 16 under, with England’s Sam Horsfield (65) and Dane Jeff Winther (62) at 15 under.
