Gary Woodland underwent successful surgery on Monday to remove a lesion from his brain.

In a statement posted on Woodland’s X account, the 2019 U.S. Open champion said the “majority of the tumor” was removed during the operation.

Last month, Woodland had announced that he initially tried to treat symptoms with medication, before he and his family made the decision to try to remove the tumor through surgery.

The four-time PGA Tour winner played in 24 events this past season, making 18 cuts, while finishing in the top 25 six times. He missed the playoffs.
