Hideki Matsuyama secured the victory at the 2025 Sentry Tournament of Champions held at the Plantation Course at Kapalua in Maui, Hawaii.

Matsuyama finished the tournament with a record-setting score of 35-under par, shooting a final round of 8-under 65, clinching his 11th PGA Tour title by three strokes over runner-up Collin Morikawa (67), who finished at 32-under.

“I’m very happy. I wanted to definitely win both tournaments in Hawaii,” said Matsuyama, who won the Sony Open in Hawaii in 2023. “So I’m very happy to be able to do that.”

Matsuyama’s win was marked by his consistency throughout the event, never posting a round over 65. His final round included seven birdies, one eagle, and just one bogey, demonstrating his control and skill on a course known for low scores. His performance broke the PGA Tour’s 72-hole scoring record, previously set by Cameron Smith in 2022 at 34-under.

Matsuyama also set a new PGA Tour record for the most birdies or better in a 72-hole event with 35.

This win not only marked the beginning of the 2025 PGA Tour season for Matsuyama but also saw him earn $3.6 million from the $20 million purse, along with 700 FedExCup points.

Matsuyama’s triumph at Kapalua adds to his legacy as the most successful Asian golfers on the PGA Tour, showcasing his prowess in both approach play and putting, which were pivotal in securing this win.
