Jeongeun Lee6 posted a record-tying 61 in the second round of the Amundi Evian Championship to secure the halftime lead on 15-under par.
Lee6 finished her second day at the famed Evian Resort Golf Club bogey-free with 10 birdies, highlighted by four straight to close out her round.
“I had a lot of birdie chances,” said Lee6. “I could play easily. My putting was really, really good, so, yeah, that’s it.”
At -15, Lee6 was three clear of Thai pair Ariya Jutanugarn and Pajaree Anannarukarn, the overnight co-leader.
Jutanugarn shot an 8-under 63, highlighted by an eagle to close her round – the second consecutive day she eagled her closing hole. Anannarukarn also made eagle at 18 en route to a second-day 65, matching her score from Thursday’s opening round.
“I didn’t change any strategy out there,” said Anannarukarn. “I stick to what I play the first round and, yeah, that worked out today.
“It’s all good.”
Three further back was was Lydia Ko, who shot a 65 on Friday to jump into a tie for fourth on 9 under alongside Yealimi Noh (68).
Defending champion Jin Young Ko chased an opening-round 72 with a 2-under 69 on Friday. She enters the weekend in a tie for 40th on 1 under, in a group that also includes Rolex Rankings No. 1 Nelly Korda (67).
The cut came at 1-over par, with 77 players reaching the weekend.
