Jessica Korda posted a second-round 5-under 67 and will take a one-stroke lead into the weekend at the inaugural LPGA MEDIHEAL Championship.

The 25-year-old American star finished her second day in San Francisco with just one bogey against six birdies, highlighted by three gains on the first four holes.

“Just staying calm,” said Korda, when asked about the key to her second 18 at Lake Merced Golf Club.

“I knew I was going to get certain bounces that weren’t going to be super favorable as the greens got firmer during the afternoon.

“Yeah, just stayed patient and stayed with my process and here we are.”

Korda is at 9-under par, one clear of Annie Park, who shot a low-round 66 to sit solo-second at 8 under. England’s Charley Hull (68) is one further back, and alone in third.

Lydia Ko, who shared the opening-round lead, had mixed results early on Friday, and was even-par through 12 holes, but the former world No. 1 made birdies on Nos. 13 and 18 to get in the red at 2-under 70. The 21-year old from New Zealand is in sixth-place at 6-under par.

Moriya Jutanugarn, who broke through with her maiden win last week in L.A., was 5-under par following a second-day 68. The Thai sits T5 alongside Sei Young Kim (70).
