Following a third-round 6-under-66, Jimenez entered Sunday holding a three-shot lead, but after a bogey on the par-5 15th hole, the Spaniard’s lead had dwindled to just one.

The flamboyant 54-year old bounced back nicely, though, with a birdie on No. 16, and a final gain on 18 to sign for a 2-under par 70, good for a four-day score of 19-under par 269, three clear of a chasing pack which included Gene Sauers (69), Joe Durant (69), and Steve Stricker (70) – who all finished T2 at 16 under.

“So happy to get a win here,” said Jimenez.

“It’s been a wonderful week. My game was amazing really. Today, the beginning I started like a little rough, but got myself back into the game and here we are.”

The win earned Jimenez $360,000 which moves him to fourth place on the Charles Schwab Cup Money List, up from 15th place last week.
