Daxing Jin shot an opening round 64 and leads the Volvo China Open by one shot over Matt Wallace.
The Chinese finished day one in Beijing with 11 pars, six birdies and one eagle to sign for a low-round 8-under par 64.
One back was the duo of Englishman Wallace and Italy’s Nino Bertasio, who posted matching 65s at Topwin Golf & Country Club to stay on the heels of the native son.
Sweden’s Alexander Bjork and Zimbabwe’s Scott Vincent were one further back at 6-under 66, one clear of Australia’s Jason Scrivener and Scott Jamieson.
