Jon Rahm carded a final-round 8-under 62 to claim the Dubai Duty Free Irish Open title at the Lahinch Golf Club.

The 24-year old Spaniard, who also won the tournament in 2017, finished his final day on the west coast of Ireland with two bogeys against eight birdies and an eagle (on No. 12), en route to a 16-under par total, two shots clear of England’s Andy Sullivan and Austria’s Bernd Wiesberger, who matched 66s on Sunday.

ā€œI keep saying I love this tournament, country, the people and I feel like Iā€™m at home every time I play in the Dubai Duty Free Irish Open,ā€ said Rahm, who will move from 11th to 8th in the world rankings.

ā€œMy game was in great form, I just struggled to hole the putts the first two days but the weekend was the complete opposite. I had puts that were rolling in from everywhere. I knew I had to do something special today and my target number was to get to 15 under so to get to 16 under is even better.”

Englishman Robert Rock, the overnight leader, posted a 70 to finish T4 alongside compatriot Eddie Pepperell (69) and Spaniard Rafa Cabrera Bello (69) at 13-under par.

The win was Rahm’s eighth of his three-year professional tour career, and his third Rolex Series title. He also becomes the first player to win on both the European Tour and PGA Tour in each of his first three seasons.
