We asked the 1997 British Open champ if he remembered what he drank from the Claret Jug when he won almost 20 years ago. Here is his response:

Leonard enjoyed the most out of his trophy going with a solid refreshment in iced tea, and showing a bit of his wild side with the champagne.

The iced tea is no surprise for the Texas native. During his heyday Leonard represented Lipton Iced Tea as part of an endorsement deal he signed at the time.

Leonard’s British Open performance in 1997 is ranked No. 5 in our Royal Troon Champions list. He was 25 at the time, and a made 5-shot come back to defeat Jesper Parnevik and Darren Clarke in the final round en route to his only major championship.
