
World No. 2 Justin Thomas carded an opening-round 70 at the 102nd edition of the HNA Open de France.

Playing alongside defending champion Tommy Fleetwood, and hometown hero Alexander Levy, the 25-year old American started on Le Golf National’s 10th tee and turned in 1-under 34. Two more birdies on Nos. 3 and 4 (his 13th and 14th) got Thomas to the top of the leaderboard at 3-under par, but a double bogey on the 5th hole, a 370-yard par-4, dropped the reigning PGA Champion back to 1-under par 70.
As of this posting, Thomas sits T7, three back of clubhouse leader Bradley Dredge of Scotland, who signed for a 4-under 67.
The Frenchman Levy carded a 3-over par 74, while England’s Fleetwood posted a 4-over 75.
The marquee trio have a 1:00 pm (local) tee time, off No. 1, on Friday.
