Thomas, who is in Bradenton Florida for the WGC-Workday Championship at The Concession, is one of Woods’ closest friends on the PGA Tour after the icon took him under his wing back in 2017. The two are often paired together in opening rounds of tournaments and are said to hang out off the course as well.
The 27-year old star heard about Woods’ car crash about 15 minutes before joining a news conference at The Concession.
“I’m sick to my stomach,” said Thomas, who began to tear up. “It hurts to see one of your closest friends get in an accident. Man, I just hope he’s all right. I just worry for his kids, you know. I’m sure they’re struggling.”
Woods, 45, required the “jaws of life” in order to be extricated from the rolled-over vehicle. He is reported to be in surgery after sustaining injuries on both legs.
