Brooke Henderson won the 2016 KPMG Women’s PGA Championship, beating the world’s #1 women’s golfer, Lydia Ko, in a playoff.

Hometown favorite Lexi Thompson shot a bogey-free 67 on Friday and will take a three-stroke lead into halftime of the CME Group Tour Championship.

Thompson finished her second day at Tiburon Golf Club with 13 pars and five birdies, including a hat trick of gains on Nos. 16, 17 and 18 en route to a two-day score of 12-under par.

“I gave myself the birdie opportunities I wanted. Wish I would’ve made a few more, but definitely not complaining with the 5-under round and the finish I had,” said Thompson, who hit all 18 greens and only missed one fairway on Friday.

“It was great conditions. A little windy in the beginning but ended up being a perfect day out there.”

Three off the pace was overnight leader Amy Olson, who finished with an even-par 72 to sit T2 alongside Brittany Lincicome (71) at 9 under par.

Marina Alex and Nelly Korda were T4 at 8 under after matching scores of 67.
