Two-time Masters champion Bubba Watson is the latest big name to join the LIV Golf Invitational Series, according to a statement released by the Greg Norman-led league.

The popular left-hander will make his LIV Golf debut in Boston as an off-course captain and will make on-air appearances during live event coverage, September 2-4, at The International in Bolton, Mass.

Watson, one of the most popular golfers in the world, is currently recovering from an injury, and will compete when healthy at a date yet to be determined. His team will be revealed in the lead-up to the Boston event, which will be contested over the Labor Day weekend, a holiday and locale long associated with the PGA Tour.

A powerful bomber off the tee, Watson earned two Green Jackets (2012, 2014) while rising to the world No. 2 in 2015. The 14-time winner has accumulated an astounding 94 top-10 finishes since turning pro.

The Baghdad, Florida native has represented the U.S. in numerous international team competitions, including four Ryder Cups (2010, 2012, 2014, 2018) and has earned a global following for his historic performances, creative play, and signature “Bubba fade.”

The addition of the 43-year-old Watson gives LIV Golf 12 major champions with a combined 23 majors won, including seven of the last 13 Masters champions, with a couple more expected.

“Bubba Watson is a tremendous addition to LIV Golf – another major champion joining the growing list of stars on our teams. His game combines the power, innovation, and excitement that the LIV Golf brand represents,” said Norman, LIV Golf CEO and Commissioner.

“He’s a risk-taker who has cemented his name among the world’s very best and we’re eager for him to come aboard to bring new energy and audiences to this league.”
