With only a couple weeks to go until the Rome edition of the Ryder Cup, nine of the 12 U.S. team members traveled to the eternal city for a weekend scouting trip at Marco Simone Golf and Country Club, the host venue for the 2023 matches.
Based on the PGA’s published team photo, all but Jordan Spieth, Patrick Cantlay and Xander Schauffele made the trip to Rome for the 36-hole scouting trip.

Those who teed it up in Rome were three of the season’s major winners: Brooks Koepka (PGA), Brian Harman (The Open) and Wyndham Clark (U.S. Open). Other U.S. players included World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler, Max Homa, Sam Burns, Justin Thomas, Rickie Fowler and Collin Morikawa.

Captain Zach Johnson also made the trip as did vice-captains Steve Stricker, Davis Love III, Stewart Cink and Jim Furyk. The only vice-captain missing was Fred Couples.

Update: According to AP, Spieth’s absence is due to his wife, Annie, preparing to give birth to the couple’s second child. Cantlay and Schauffele had “prior family commitments,” the PGA of America’s Julius Mason told the AP.
