Rickie Fowler is easily one of the five most popular golfers in the world. (Tiger, Phil, Rory…)

The fan favorite, who endured a horrendous four-year slump, starting in 2019, and running through the 2022 season, enjoyed a comeback campaign in 2023 which saw the California native return to form and end a lengthy winless drought. The bounce-back season earned Fowler a spot on Zach Johnson’s U.S. Ryder Cup squad.

According to analytics, Fowler’s star power is as strong as ever.

Fowler’s Rocket Mortgage Classic victory in July was one of the most memorable moments of the year. It also ranks as one of the top moments in terms of social media engagements.

According to the analytics company Zoomph, the Detroit stop ranked the 4th most engaged tournament across the PGA Tour’s social media platforms.

It should be noted that this is only measuring engagement on the PGA Tour’s social media accounts. The majors, however, are not managed by the tour. Thus, they share much of the promotion and engagement with each major tournament’s social team (The Masters, USGA, PGA, R&A). So, no, the Rocket Mortgage Classic wasn’t more popular on social media than the PGA, U.S. Open or British Open.
