Max Homa shot a 6-under 66 on Sunday to claim victory at the Nedbank Golf Challenge in South Africa.

Homa finished on 19 under for the four-day tournament, four shots clear of Nicolai Hojgaard to win his seventh pro tour victory – six of those being PGA Tour titles.

The southern California native finished his final day at Gary Player Country Club with six birdies and an eagle. He clinched his first pro win outside the United States after back-to-back birdies on 15 and 16, highlighted by a 38-foot bomb on the par-3.

“It’s kind of what you dream of. You want to be in the fight, and it was just fun to kind of close it out at the end,” said Homa. “It was one of those weeks the ball wanted to go in when it needed to go in.”

Denmark’s Hojgaard, a member of the European Ryder Cup team, carded a bogey-free 68 to secure the silver medal. A second Dane, Thorbjorn Olesen (69), finished solo third on 15 under.

Justin Thomas, Homa’s Ryder Cup teammate, finished on 12 under after a Sunday 66, good for solo fourth.

“It was a nice day,” Thomas said. “I would’ve liked if Max hadn’t run away so much [and] I had a little bit more of a chance.

“I felt like I’ve gotten around really well this week for how my game has been, and it was nice. I feel like I played some really quality golf today.”

Dan Bradbury of England finished in fifth place at 11 under.
