HOUSTON — Nelly Korda delivered a masterclass performance, cruising to a wire-to-wire victory at the 2026 Chevron Championship on Sunday at Memorial Park Golf Course.

The 27-year-old American star finished at 18-under par (270), five shots clear of runners-up Ruoning Yin and Patty Tavatanakit, securing her third LPGA major title and reclaiming the world No. 1 ranking.

Korda entered the final round with a commanding five-shot lead after opening rounds of 65-65 and a third-round 70 that tied the 54-hole scoring record. She maintained control throughout Sunday’s final round, carding a steady 2-under 70 with key birdies that kept any challengers at bay. No one got closer than four shots all weekend, marking one of the most dominant performances in recent major history.

This victory marks Korda’s second Chevron Championship title (following her 2024 win) and her 17th LPGA Tour win overall. She earned $1.35 million from the $9 million purse. The win also positions her just five points away from LPGA Hall of Fame eligibility.

In a nod to the tournament’s tradition — previously held at Mission Hills with its famous “Poppie’s Pond” — Korda celebrated by cannonballing into the new “victory pool” near the 18th green alongside her caddie, delighting the Houston crowd.

“I just really locked in,” Korda said afterward, acknowledging the challenge of protecting a large lead while staying aggressive.

The field included strong showings from international stars: Yin and Tavatanakit both finished at 13-under, while others like Yan Liu and Hyo Joo Kim rounded out the top finishes.

Korda’s consistency (never trailing after taking the lead early in Round 1) echoed historic performances, joining players like Juli Inkster in leading major championships from start to finish with significant margins.

This dominant start to the 2026 LPGA major season underscores Korda’s status as the game’s premier player when at her best. With the year’s first major now in the books, attention turns to the next chapters in what promises to be another standout season for the American superstar.
