The LPGA Tour moves from Taiwan to Malaysia for the Sime Darby LPGA Malaysia, the third leg of its five-tournament fall Asian Swing.
As is the case with most overseas events, the Sime Darby offers what amounts to free money for the women golfers, as the field is limited to 78 players with no cut.
Defending champion, and two-time Sime Darby winner (2014, 2016), Shanshan Feng of China is the tournament favorite at 8-1.
Right behind Feng is the current World No. 2 Sung Hyun Park of South Korea. The reigning U.S. Women’s Open champion is pegged with odds of 9-1 at TPC Kuala Lumpur.
Two of Park’s Korean compatriots are at 10-1: World No. 1 So Yeon Ryu and In Gee Chun (No. 4).
Former world No. 1 Lydia Ko of New Zealand, a runner-up in Malaysia in 2015, has odds of 12-1, while Canada’s Brooke Henderson and American Stacy Lewis are both given 16-1 odds.
Spain’s Carlota Ciganda is at 18-1 and is the only other player in the field with better than 20-1 odds.
