Along with the FedExCup, the PGA Tour’s Player of the Year award is up for grabs this week at East Lake Golf Club.

At the moment, Justin Thomas is the odds-on favorite to win his second career Jack Nicklaus trophy. The 27-year old Kentucky native is the Tour’s only three-time winner and its money leader.

However, top-5 ranked stars Jon Rahm, Dustin Johnson, Webb Simpson, and Collin Morikawa each have won twice this season.

  • Justin Thomas
    $7,344,040
    World No. 3
    FedExCup No. 3 (-7)
3 Wins – CJ Cup, Sentry TofC, WGC-FedEx St Jude Inv.
  • Jon Rahm
    $5,959,819
    World No. 2
    FedExCup No. 2 (-8)
2 Wins – the Memorial, BMW Championship
  • Dustin Johnson
    $5,837,267
    World No. 1
    FedExCup No. 1 (-10)
2 Wins – Travelers Championship, The Northern Trust
  • Webb Simpson
    $5,097,742
    World No. 6
    FedExCup No. 4 (-6)
2 Wins – WM Phoenix Open, RBC Heritage
  • Collin Morikawa
    $5,250,868
    World No. 5
    FedExCup No. 5 (-5)
2 Wins – Workday Open, PGA Championship

A FedExCup victory by Thomas would clearly clinch the MVP trophy as well. But so would a win by either Rahm, Johnson, Simpson, or Morikawa, as each would match Thomas’ three, with the FedExCup acting as the tiebreaker.

MVP Outcomes
  • Justin Thomas Wins MVP if he wins Tour Championship
or if the winner is not Jon Rahm, Dustin Johnson, Webb Simpson, and Collin Morikawa
  • Jon Rahm Wins MVP if he wins Tour Championship
  • Dustin Johnson Wins MVP if he wins Tour Championship
  • Webb Simpson Wins MVP if he wins Tour Championship
  • Collin Morikawa Wins MVP if he wins Tour Championship
