The PGA Tour has suspended Wesley Bryan indefinitely for competing in LIV Golf’s “The Duels” event, a creator-focused competition held April 5, 2025, at Trump National Doral in Miami, according to multiple reports.
The decision has sparked controversy in the golf world, highlighting tensions between the PGA Tour and the LIV Golf League.
Bryan, a PGA Tour member and YouTube personality behind Bryan Bros Golf, participated in the nine-hole scramble event, pairing with LIV Golf star Dustin Johnson. His brother, George Bryan, also competed, teaming with Sergio Garcia to win the inaugural Duels in a playoff.

The event, contested at President Trump’s iconic Miami Doral venue, featured six LIV Golf pros and six content creators, mimicking the PGA Tour‘s Creator Classic series.
The PGA Tour‘s suspension stems from its rule, established in 2022, banning players who participate in “unauthorized events” like those associated with LIV Golf. While the Tour reportedly threatened suspensions for other creators involved, including Grant Horvat and Fat Perez, it rescinded those threats after pushback, singling out Bryan due to his active Tour membership.
Phil Mickelson, in a now-deleted tweet, claimed Bryan faces a one-year ban, though the PGA Tour has not officially confirmed the duration.
Bryan, the 2017 RBC Heritage champion, has balanced his Tour career with content creation, amassing over 545,000 YouTube subscribers alongside George. His participation in The Duels, which drew 1 million YouTube views in 24 hours, underscores the growing influence of golf creators, but also the PGA Tour‘s firm stance against LIV Golf affiliations.

Fans and creators have slammed the suspension as hypocritical, noting that non-members like Horvat faced no penalties, and players like Fred Biondi competed in LIV-related events without Tour repercussions.
Posts on X reflect outrage, with some calling the PGA Tour’s actions a barrier to golf’s unification.
The suspension raises questions about the future of creator-driven events and the ongoing PGA Tour-LIV Golf divide, especially as merger talks falter.
Neither Bryan nor the PGA Tour has commented publicly on the matter.
