Phil Mickelson is a fan favorite on the PGA Tour – thanks to his sunny persona and risk-taking game. Being a 5-time major champ with 42 Tour wins doesn’t hurt either.
In this little archived clip (notice the missing Phil logo), the hometown hero is mobbed as he walks from green to tee at Torrey Pines. As the PGA Tour’s Instagram producer perfectly states, “Phil loves everyone. Everyone loves Phil.”
Unlike some of the other big names this week (like Tiger Woods, Jason Day, Jimmy Walker, Rickie Fowler, Dustin Johnson, Brooks Koepka…) Mickelson did make the cut, and sits at 1-under for the tournament, seven-strokes behind leader Justin Rose.
