Phil Mickelson threw a scare into golf fans last night when he tweeted a thank you to longtime rival Tiger Woods.
“Dear Tiger, Thank you for all that you’ve done for this great game of golf,” wrote Mickelson.
Dear Tiger,
Thank you for all that you’ve done for this great game of golf. No one has benefited more than me and I just wanted you to know I appreciate you and all you’ve done. That’s all. Thank you.— Phil Mickelson (@PhilMickelson) September 2, 2020
Some golf fans were concerned something had happened to Woods or Mickelson.
Hi P Money! Just a quick question… is everything okay?!?

While others guessed he’d been drinking.
Phil uncorked a bottle around 4pm that’s my guess.

Phil is currently with Nance. Just polished off their 3rd bottle of the Calling. A lot of “I love you man” talk. They start talking Tiger and Phil is just putting his heart on the table. So emotional. Jim has a hand on Phil, “You’ve got to tell him man, you’ve gotta do it”

Yet, according to Lefty it was simply a case of “random appreciation.”

The two legends did not make it to East Lake this year, but will meet up again in two weeks for the U.S. Open at Winged Foot in New York.
