The pairings and tee times for the third round of the 117th U.S. Open at Erin Hills have been released by the USGA. And if you’re FOX Sports you’re not exactly thrilled.
With SIX of the world’s TOP 10 players, including the TOP 3 (No. 1 Dustin Johnson, No. 2 Rory McIlroy, No. 3 Jason Day), along with ‘brand names’ like Adam Scott, Justin Rose, Bubba Watson and Jimmy Walker, all missing the cut, the leaderboard looks more like the Insurance Suitcase Open than the U.S. Open. But that’s professional golf.
Other than Rickie Fowler, the top two pages of the FOX TV leaderboard will include almost all unfamiliar names to viewers who only tune in for a major or two.
Two names FOX will be rooting hard for today are Jordan Spieth (10:43 AM) and Sergio Garcia (1:39 PM). If they don’t move up the board today, those screams you hear late Saturday will be coming from the FOX executive suites.
