Scott Parel shot a 4-under 68 at Sherwood Country Club to claim his second career Champions Tour victory at the Invesco QQQ Championship.
The 53-year old Michigan native finished his third day in Thousand Oaks, California with a blemish-fee card comprised of four birdies and 14 pars en route to a three-day score of 11 under.
“I was very comfortable. You know, when you’re playing pretty good and hitting the ball well and playing solid, you just try to keep those positive thoughts,” said Parel.
“And when you’ve done it before, it’s a little easier to stay positive.”
One back was Paul Goydos who fired a bogey-free round of 67 to finish solo-second at 10-under par.
Kenny Perry, who started the day T15, opened with an eagle and four birdies in his first 12 holes to grab the solo lead, but the 58-year old finished his final six holes at 1 over to sign for a 67 and an 8 under total, two shots off the pace of Parel.
David McKenzie (70) and Stephen Ames (71) joined Perry at T3.
Overnight leader Miguel Angel Jimenez struggled to a six-bogey/five-birdie 73 to fall to T7 at 7 under, alongside Jay Haas (69), Bernhard Langer (70), and David Toms (70).
