After getting shutout in the morning foursome sessions, Europe bounced back in a big way, winning two matches and tying two others to win the afternoon fourballs, 3-1, while cutting its overall deficit to just two points, 5-3, at the 2023 Solheim Cup.
After sitting out the morning fourballs, rookie Rose Zhang made her Solheim Cup debut alongside Megan Khang, who won her morning foursomes with Lexi Thompson. The pair were matched up against Gemma Dryburgh and Madelene Sagstrom in the afternoon’s opening match. The battle was close most of the way with Europe 1 up through 14 hole. The U.S. tied it up with a birdie on the 15th. And that’s how it ended.
In the following match (No. 6), Thompson was partnered with Lilia Vu. Europe’s duo of Leona Maguire and Georgia Hall led 1 up through 13 holes until Lexi drained a lengthy eagle putt on No. 14 tie the match.
