Jordan Spieth confidently (and oddly) boasted on Friday that his goals for Houston had been accomplished, and anything else would be “icing on the cake.”

Of course he went out and laid an egg on Saturday, reeling off three front-nine bogeys to finish with a 71 – when a score of 67-68 would have put him at the top of the 54-hole leaderboard. It was a huge missed opportunity for Spieth, especially after claiming mission accomplished.
Well today, he finally found some of that proverbial icing on the cake, as Spieth drained a 29-foot birdie putt on his 272nd stroke to close his weekend in Houston on a perfect note.
The finish should provide a huge boost of confidence for Spieth heading into Augusta.
