Taylor Pendrith produced a low-round 61 at TPC Summerlin and will enter Friday’s second round of the Shriners Children’s Open with a three-shot lead over a ten-player logjam.
The 33-year-old Canadian signed for a flawless 10-under 61 scorecard, highlighted by 10 birdies.
“Yeah, I played really nice today,” said Pendrith, who hit 13 of 14 fairways and 17 of 18 greens in regulation.
“Got off to a good start. Was able to get that groove with my driver and found a lot of fairways.
“From there, I had a lot of good numbers today. Feel like we had the same number a few times and I was able to hit some close wedges. Made a lot of putts inside ten feet.
“Yeah, everything was on and it was nice to — would’ve liked to birdie the last or make eagle, but I’m still very, very pleased.”
A group of ten players, including three Las Vegas residents (Joseph Bramlett, Harry Hall, and Doug Ghim), were tied for second on 7 under.
