Justin Thomas, Adam Scott Share Genesis Open Lead at Halftime

Tiger Woods had a Q & A session along with Rickie Fowler on Tuesday during the Quicken Loans National Pro Am dinner.

Justin Thomas and Adam Scott share the lead at the Genesis Open after 36 holes of play at Riviera Country Club.

Thomas, playing alongside Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy in the featured group, was 5 under on his round when play was suspended on Friday evening. The 25-year old Kentucky native returned on Saturday morning to wrap up a second-round 65 to reach 11-under par.

Thomas’ second round included two bogeys offset by eight birdies, highlighted by four-straight gains on Nos. 14-17 (his 5th-8th).

“I’m striking it well. I putted really well today, which is nice, and I just – when I hit it in the rough or I hit it in trouble, I’m just kind of getting it around the green or getting it on the green,” said Thomas in a Friday evening interview.

“I mean, the greens are so soft, especially this morning when you miss the green, ball in hand, it’s a lot easier to get it up and down. But I just managed my emotions really well today and tried not to let the weather get to me.”

Scott was also 5 under on the day when play was suspended and like Thomas, returned on Saturday to add another birdie to secure the top spot alongside the American.

The 38-year old Aussie finished with seven birdies against one bogey, and will play his final 36 holes with Thomas and J.B. Holmes (69), who sits solo third on 10 under.

Patrick Rodgers (67) and Michael Thompson (64) were next at 9-under par.
