Tiger Woods‘ right ankle, which was fused in April, appears to be fully repaired according to the 15-time major winner.
“My ankle is fine. Where they fused my ankle, I have absolutely zero issue whatsoever,” said Woods earlier this week. “That pain is completely gone.
“It’s the other areas that have been compensated for.”
Woods, who hasn’t played since withdrawing from the Masters after the third round, compared his recovery situation to when he had fusion surgery on his lower back.
“But all the surrounding areas is where I had all my problems, and I still do,” he said. “So you fix one, others have to become more hypermobile to get around it, and it can lead to some issues.”
Woods’ return target will be the Hero World Challenge in the Bahamas, where one spot remains open. The PGA Tour sanctioned event is scheduled for early December and does not permit carts.
If not the Bahamas, Woods could play at the PNC Championship with son Charlie. That event is sanctioned by the PGA Tour Champions which means carts are permitted. Woods has used a cart both times.
