Erik van Rooyen shot a third-round 68 and will enter Sunday’s finale at Royal Golf Dar Es Salam clinging to a one-shot lead over Jorge Campillo at the Trophee Hassan II.

The 29-year old South African finished his third day in Rabat, Morocco with two bogeys offset by seven birdies including a hat trick on Nos. 16, 17 and 18.

“I didn’t switch any gears,” said Van Rooyen. “I struggled with my rhythm, my tempo in the beginning and I think I just kind of found my flow on the back nine.

“What we’ve been doing up until now has been great, so we’ll just keep doing that.”

He last held the 54-hole lead at the Dubai Duty Free Irish Open, late last season, eventually finishing in fourth-place.

“I was quite nervous last year,” said Van Rooyen. “I think I’ve been in this position a bunch of times now. The nerves will be there again tomorrow but I love to be in this position.”

Spaniard Campillo posted a round of 69 to reach 7-under par and join the leader in Sunday’s final pairing.

One further back was American Sean Crocker (72), who was a shot clear of a foursome at T4, which included Scot Grant Forrest (69), Australian Wade Ormsby (70), England’s Lee Slattery (72) and American Julian Suri (72).
