According to the PGA Tour, Webb Simpson has withdrawn from the BMW Championship, citing a need to rest for the season finale at East Lake next week.

“After playing consecutive weeks, Webb is taking the week off in order to be rested for the Tour Championship in Atlanta,” said a Simpson representative.

Simpson, 35, who has played four consecutive weeks, currently holds down the third-spot in the FedExCup standings, and is assured a top-10 spot in the playoff finale in Atlanta.

The world No. 6 tied for sixth at The Northern Trust in Boston last week, and posted a T3 the week prior in his native state of North Carolina at the Wyndham Championship.
