Abraham Ancer shot a final-round 2-under 68, then edged Sam Burns and Hideki Matsuyama in a playoff to win the 2021 WGC-FedEx St Jude Invitational.
The 30-year old Ancer finished his final round at TPC Southwind with just one bogey offset by a hat trick of birdies to reach 16 under.
In overtime, the three competitors each made par-4 on the 18th, but on the second go-round up the finishing hole in Memphis, Ancer capitalized on a perfect approach to make birdie and win his first PGA Tour title.
With the victory, Ancer earned $1,820,000 and 550 FedExCup points. He will move to No. 6 in the FedExCup standings and No. 9 on the money list. He also picked up 74 world ranking points and will jump from 23 to No. 10 in the Official World Golf Rankings – his career best position.
